Hi, there.

I'm Tayla.

My name is Tayla, I am a wife, a mother to two beautiful children, and a Occupational Therapist. Since a young age I have had the desire to help people in any way that I could and I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to pursue the career that chose me. I graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 and since that time most of my experience has been in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and hand therapy. I have completed extra studies in the areas of hand therapy and lymphoedema management. I honestly love all aspects of Occupational Therapy (it is such a diverse role), however my passion lies in the field of hand and upper limb therapy. This is why I have chosen to start my own clinic room so I can pursue my passion for all things hands and upper limb. I am a country girl; I am approachable and friendly so please do not hesitate to phone or email me with any questions or queries you may have regarding the services that I provide.

FAQ

Do I need a referral?

No, but most of my clients have been seen by a Doctor first.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

X-rays, imaging reports, notes, referral letters are all helpful. Wear loose upper body clothing or something suitable for the arm to be exposed. If the condition is painful you can take something for pain 15 minutes before your appointment

How long will the appointment take?

Minimum consultation time is 30 minutes, check when booking. Treatment duration depends on your condition and improvements made.

Does my private health fund cover the consultation?

Yes, in nearly all cases. There will be a variable gap depending on your fund and the services you need. I use Medipass to process claims and payments, bring your fund card with you. You can always check with your health fund before your consultation.

What about Medicare?

Medicare does not pay for therapy UNLESS you are referred by your GP with a “Care Plan” this will only apply to some individuals, please discuss with your GP first. There will be a gap fee with a care plan.

Tayla Thrupp, Principal, is an accredited Occupational Therapist and an Associate member or the Australian Hand Therapy Association. Tayla is completing ongoing education through the Australian Hand Therapy Association with the aim of becoming a certified Hand Therapist in the future. Tayla has also completed a certificate in Lymphoedema management of the upper limb.

The Therapy Room welcomes referrals from G.P’s, Specialists, worker’s compensation, DVA, insurance companies and self referrals.
